Yacht Racing
Offshore Yacht racing with Poole Sailing is about being competitive and having FUN as well as improving your skills. You will be racing on well-prepared racing yachts, in a very sociable fleet, with some great racing skippers who also happen to be great instructors.
That makes our events the perfect introduction to yacht racing for beginners and expert sailors alike! For some light reading before you race look out for Rob’s latest book, ‘Start Yacht Racing’ published by the RYA.
Yacht racing is all about teamwork and to encourage that, we will book individuals onto a two-race Channel series in 2024. Being part of a consistent team over a series of races will improve your individual skills, your confidence and results on the race course. You can join Richard and his professional crew for The Channel Race Series. The Series will comprise two, three-day events. One cross channel and one across Lyme Bay. The individual price for the series is £900.
THE CHANNEL RACE SERIES.
4th – 6th May. PYRA Poole to Dartmouth races. Saturday race to Dartmouth, a lay day on Sunday in one of the south coasts’ loveliest ports and then a Bank Holiday race back to Poole. A long and challenging race course around Portland Bill and all the way across Lyme Bay.
24th – 26th August. Poole to Alderney. Poole to the lovely Island of Alderney. Two races across the Channel plus a lay day on the Island. A real cross channel adventure. Alderney is the most rugged and remote of the main Channel Islands where we will experience a warm welcome at the local Yacht Club.
