Poole Sailing is an RYA Recognised Training Centre for practical sailing courses and shore based theory courses. But more than that, we offer a wide range of sailing experiences all of which can be tailored to your requirements including;

Our instructors all have many years of sailing experience and teaching experience. We only use RYA Cruising Instructors or RYA Yachtmaster Instructors as leaders and skippers for our sailing events.
The yachts we use are all commercially coded cruising or racing yachts that are lovingly cared for by their owners. Each one has comfortable berths, a galley, and heads (marine toilets) on board.
To ensure that we provide the best possible sail training we only take 4 students per boat on practical RYA cruising courses. We have two price rates. Our Standard Individual Rate allows for adults to join a course with up to three other like minded individuals. While our Exclusive Use Rate allows for smaller groups of two or three people to enjoy more room on board and more individual tuition time within a well known group, or allow family groups to introduce children to yacht sailing in a secure environment.
Our cruising area is unparalleled! Poole Harbour, our base, is a designated ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, and immediately to the West we have the ‘World Heritage – Jurassic Coast’, Weymouth and the West Country. To the East we have the Needles and the pretty harbours of the Western Solent, while we are only 60 miles from the Channel Islands and the Normandy coast
Rob Gibson, Poole Sailing’s Principal, is also the author of four books published by the RYA; ‘Boat Handling for Sail & Power’, ‘Sail Trim for Cruisers’, ‘Racing for Yachts and Keelboats’, and the ‘ICC Handbook’. Rob teaches many of the Poole Sailing RYA courses and also offers Master Classes in Boat Handling and Sail Trim on our boats and on customers’ boats. Rob is available to teach and provide Own Boat Tuition in other parts of the world, as well.
