A taste of yachting for all
Learn the basics of sailing, experience the thrill of a fast planing yacht or just enjoy a leisurely sail to a quiet beach for lunch. It's up to you! Everyone will be allocated a role on board the yacht based on your experience and interest. Or, if you prefer you can just sit back and enjoy the ride! No sailing experience is necessary, full safety briefings will be given. Cruising is offered all year round; subject to weather conditions. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
The Cruising Area
Poole is an ideal yachting venue with its sheltered waters, amazing scenery and easy access. On a day-sail, you will be sailing in and around Poole Harbour, the second largest harbour in the world, in Poole Bay and along the world famous Jurassic cliffs of the Dorset coast.
Poole Sailing Ltd provides a range of different cruising options.

Day-Sail
A normal day cruise starts at 10am and finishes around 5pm. The day begins with a safety briefing over coffee during which you will be introduced to the basics of sailing. Our sailing route will depend on weather conditions, but typically starts with a sail in Poole Harbour before moving out into Bournemouth Bay and along the Dorset coast past Studland and Old Harry Rocks. We ordinarily stop at Swanage or Studland Bay to enjoy a buffet lunch on board. In the afternoon you can practise your sailing skills in the Bay before returning to the marina late afternoon

Extended Day-Sail
The day starts at 8.00am with breakfast on board and a sail across the bay past the Needles then into the Solent for a pub lunch either in Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight or Lymington. We then sail back to Poole arriving at the marina around 8.00pm. Alternatively, depending on the wind and tide, we may go to Lulworth Cove and/or Weymouth along the Jurassic Coast.
Weekend cruise
This can be combined with our RYA Start Yachting course
for beginners. Typically we would leave the Marina on Poole
Quay at 9.00am and set off either to the Solent or to Weymouth
staying on board over Saturday night and returning to Poole
late afternoon on Sunday. Alternatively we could join in a
PYRA race see programme.
