Sail Trim for Cruisers

Sail trim is the art of setting sails in response to the varying conditions imposed by the wind, waves, boat speed and desired course.

The purpose of the course is to promote good sail trim and thus improve sailing efficiency. To quote Rob "With properly trimmed sails you’ll sail more easily, it will be more comfortable and you’ll get to your destination (the pub!) quicker. So if you’re not going well – re-trim the sails." and his top tips on reefing. “If you think about putting in a reef, do it immediately, however if you’re thinking about taking a reef out, have a cup of tea first before you decide.”
